O ur readers are on the move. Recently, I heard from our reader in Zimbabwe--she had moved to neighboring Botswana because of all the political unrest.
Our reader in Kenya has also made a move-- to Tanzania-- a neighboring country to the south. And Atlanta member, John Walker, moved back to Jamaica last month. We will miss John but we wish him all the best in Mandeville.
I did a liitle moving around myself this summer when my wife and I went on a cruise that stopped in seven islands in the Southern Caribbean. On each island we went on a tour to see the sights. They are all so beautiful, peaceful and laid back. It was a very relaxing and meaningful week; I had dreamed of such a cruise since I was a kid and overheard someone talking about visiting the islands on a boat.
On one tour, our driver was introduced as being a Jamaican but when I introduced myself to him he admitted he was not really Jamaican but identified closely with us. It was not the first time I had run into people who wanted to be Jamaican.
Well, I have to get back to watching the Olympics now. Plus, I have some other dreams to fulfill. No doubt many more folks will want to be Jamaican after the track and field events.
Happy reading!

Former Manning Cup Captain Heads to College in Ohio

Christopher Allen attended Kingston College from 2000-2008. Not only was he was captain of the 2007/08 Manning cup team.
He earned four Unit 1 Cape passes (Math, Accounts, Sociology & Caribbean Studies) and also passed nine (9) subjects in the CXC exams including English and mathematics.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mt. Vernon, Ohio has offered Christopher a partial scholarship that covers his tuition and books valued at US$18,000. He still needs an additional US$6,000 for room and board. His family can only provide $2,000 towards his room and board so there is a shortfall of $4,000.
Christopher has approached the KCOBA for help in covering his room and board. If you would like to help you can contact Robert Kelly at robertkckelly@aol.com.
